How alien I am in my own land I realized
It seems I forgot the genuineness in human beings
But today in my mind it got revised.
Went to a village, I don’t know the reason why
The cool fresh air hugging me
That I so much wanted to fly
This was entirely a new image for me
Here I was, what I wanted to be.
No people going gaga over brand names,
No one running for billionaire fame!
People engrossed in their work, children playing in sand
Their small feet dumped in muddy puddle,
But supporting each other with their small delicate hands!
How happy and excited they got,
The moment they saw me…
This was one emotion I was looking in my loved ones
But just couldn’t see.
Though the hut was small and the things were scattered
But the way that women held the family together…
I was simply flattered!
No matter how advanced we are
But still they are ahead
We are almost dead, in process to be alive
But they are alive, though their destiny seems dead!
I just walked down the road,
On my shoulders I felt the heavy load
Not of the responsibilities I have
But it felt as if in my happiness something was sad!
Though I have a big family,
But no one knows who is who?
Here I saw the entire village as one family
With a firm bond of love and care, as their glue.
I was zapped and was awe struck
With the humanity that still existed.
Whereas ‘we’ in the race to achieve our materialistic dreams
Always ran away from it… always resisted.
Just a single visit, taught me so much
That I started thinking myself as illiterate
But to me, these villagers became the noble laureates.
